The first freight train with export goods from Turkey was sent to Moscow from Ankara on Friday, the republic's transport and infrastructure ministry said."The first freight train departed for Moscow from Turkey at 10.00 (coinciding with Moscow time) from the Ankara railway station. The route will pass along the Kars-Tbilisi-Baku railway line. It includes 15 wagons with containers, which contain 3321 Turkish-made household appliances," - the message says.It is noted that the train will pass through the territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan, the total length of the route will be 4,650 kilometers. The train is expected to arrive at the Vorsino terminal and logistics center in the Kaluga Region in eight days."Delivery of goods by rail will significantly reduce logistics costs and time," the ministry said.The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish interstate agreement and opened in October 2017.In May 2019, the heads of the railway companies of Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the development of railway transportation. The Memorandum provides for joint actions to ensure regular rail transportation along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route, including the establishment of economically feasible tariffs and the attraction of a new cargo base.
